- I have just quit my job! It was a small part-time job doing 'after
school care' and my health is playing up again so I have resigned.
(They were going to change the way they employed people next year anyway
and I couldn't have re-applied so this has just hastened the inevitable
'parting of the ways'.) Anyway, I am looking for work doing internet
research or something where I can sit down rather than be on my feet-
just for a couple hours a day or few hours a week, preferably in my
own home or in my local community. I live in a small country town so
many opportunities such as jobs like call centre work are not available
from here. So, if anyone knows where I can find such "Internet research" type
of work just let me know. :-) So...vibes and any suggestions or offers
are welcome! :-)
- My 6 year old son's class would like some postcards from
around the world showing something interesting from your region animal,
landscape, famous building, etc.
- If anyone wants to join in, the address is:

- Stocking stuffers for my 2 sons (aged 11 and 6). It can
be sweets or a small item from where you live. I have a hard time
finding neat stuffers and last year when I did this we talked about
how everyone worldwide participates in the exchange of peace at holiday
time in their own unique way. It helped open some good conversation.
- Bookmarks or bookplates.
- Handmade cards. I love seeing how creative everyone is.
This is really special when you tell me a bit about yourself.
- A book off my bookshelf.
- Take time to do something special for yourself this holiday.
We get so caught up in what we are 'supposed' to do, or what we are
'expected' to do that many people find the holiday season excessively
stressful. My wish for you is that you remember to pace yourself,
don't take on more than you can handle, and remember that saying "no" is
ok. Buy yourself a treat- - some nice chocolate or tea or spend a
few hours vegging at Starbucks with a friend. And remember to spend
quiet time every day with a good book!

- I'll be back later, but right now I have a wish for for
prayers of any sort, to whatever Name you call your Creator/Supreme
Being/Goddess/God. My friend Doug is dying quickly. he was diagnosed
only 3 weeks ago, and given 3-6 months. Then the drs put in a stent
to allow him to eat, and it all went wrong. It's doubtful he'll
last the week. His wish thinking he'd have a few months was to go camping
in the desert he loves...at this point it would take a miraculous
reprieve for him to even have the strength to be carried up for a last
Lake visit in the nearby mountains. So prayers for any last joy in
the natural world (maybe just a flock of birds outside his window)
will be appreciated by Doug and all who know him.

- I would love for everyone to live in a world without fear.
- I am losing sleep over global warming and really need an
electric car. I really wish everyone would take small steps in
being more energy efficient. It is not that hard! (Fluorescent light

plant a tree, turn off electronic devices)
- I have yearned to visit Hawaii , the land of my childhood.
Since it doesn't look like it is going to happen this year I would
love anything from Hawaii from a shell to a quilt. Cheap airline
tickets would be the best! Like I said last year, Hawaii is where my
soul resides.

Italian.

Baseball League. Anything would be cool, autographed photos would

still love to get more. See my bookshelf for what we already have.
- And finally, I am turning 40 soon and am freaking out about
it. Anything to help me cope with this would be appreciated. :)

- This is so important, and all they have to do is take a
cheek swab to test. If there are any blood drives in your area, please
please go and help out! There are fathers, mothers and kids out there
that need help! http://www.pierce.ctc.edu/---/mangan.php

- Prayers for my husband's uncle (Mike). He is having a five-way
bypass this morning. (I know, a major surgery). He needs all the
prayers in the world. *UPDATE* He came out of surgery just fine!!!
:) Thank you to those who prayed! I would like for him to still get
prayers, for a speedy and healthy recovery. :)
- Ideas on how to start something my husband and I came up
with called "The Katy Means Foundation"--after my dear, dear friend
that passed away from a VERY rare form of liver cancer at only 20
years old. How do we get the word out without aggravating people?
How do we become big enough to be called a "charity?" We want to
help children with cancer, and the homeless. Katy would be really
proud and we want to honor her memory.
- Prayers for my husband and I to conceive our first child....PLEASE?!?
We are worried that one, if not both of us cannot have kids, since
we have been trying for a year.
- Dragon stuff to help my hubby feel better.

- I'm requesting if you have a nativity-themed ornament,
or an ornament from your state or country, that you think about
sending one to me! I started a nativity Christmas tree last year, but
I only have about 5 ornaments on it (mostly I decorated with lights
and ribbons).
- I liked michyj's idea so much that I'd like to do the same
for my husband whose birthday is December 20. We went through a
rough patch this year (after 16 years, who can blame us?) and one of
his complaints (since we pretty much listed EVERYTHING off that bugged
us over the past 16 years) was I wasn't very inventive with gifts.
Having bookcrossers send him cards or postcards from all over the
world would DEFINITELY go into the inventive column (so thanks, michyj!!)

- Say random hellos and give random smiles to people you meet
in passing during the next few days! You never know who might be
having a bad day and seeing a random smile might just help perk them
up! [[Or so is my hope...:)]]
- Seeing as it's Terry Fox day here in a few, [[Or possibly
its already past and we're just slow in doing the walk...]] I think
any donations to the many Cancer societies throughout the world
or any charity of your choice would surely make you smile, and give
you a lovely feeling of good karma!!

- We've got a 5-year-old child (he'll be six before Christmas) who
loves space! Last year we received all kinds of funky space stuff
such as socks with NASA logo, "How do you go to toilet in space" -book
with so many details that we are still reading and enjoying it, comics
and so on. Our kid Touko (http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/touko) was
very surprised and happy and is still just as keen on space. This Autumn
he wanted to start a new hobby and now he's going to Ursa Space Club
once a week. They've made space ship models and talked about what
Earth is like and in October we'll go and visit the observatory.
- My Special Holiday Wish is "Space and beyond": I'm sure
our kid would love to receive anything kewl about space, spacecrafts,
solar system and so on. He's interested in Star Wars and Star Trek
and got excited about Dr.Who -ads (they've now started showing the
new series here in Finland, but he hasn't seen any episodes yet- but
is still a fan already: ). He also likes science experiments and fantasy
stuff (we've read Tolkien's Hobbitt, Narnia and such and he's seen
Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas). He's our darling. :)

- A nice thick songbook of jazz standards (e.g. Cry Me a
River, God Bless the Child, Summertime, all that stuff);
- Unused "arty" (traditional or modern) postcards for including
in RABCKs and trades;
- Ballycumber rubber stamp and ink pad;
- Eclectic mix CD. Any kind of filthy noise will do, the more
obscure the better. Think John Peel or those fantastic compilation
CDs that Rough Trade put out every year. Unfortunately I don't
have a single functioning tape player in the house, so it would have
to be on CD (audio and mp3 are both fine);
- Used postage stamps to help save the albatrosses. Yes, they're
still doing it, despite receiving about half a ton of stamps from
kamalamalama last year! You can send them directly to the RSPB (http://www.rspb.org/---/index.asp)
or send them to me to send on. I prefer the latter because it makes
me look good ;-)
- US-based BXers who are willing to mail internationally,
to join three of my bookrings:

an environmental theme) http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/3255094
- Arthur Schnitzler- Dream Story (short novel of sexual mores
in fin-de-siecle Vienna , which inspired Stanley Kubrick's film
Eyes Wide Shut) http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/3758968

sci-fi/fantasy, a bit like Terry Pratchett, but set in a suburb
in NW London) http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/3409143

(claimed);
- 2 x small sheets of Dilbert stickers;
- anything else I can think of (I'll keep a list on my bookshelf).

a normal lightbulb with an energy-saving one, buy a wormery for
composting kitchen scraps, lag the loft, etc.

- Ornaments with books on them
- Collectable spoon from Slovakia (especially from Bardejov)
- OK, since that is not to realistic, how about prayer that
God will give in and send my husband my way? I hate being single

Even some prospects would be nice.
- any books by Ted Dekker that I have on my wish list. He
is my new favorite author.
- Prayer that I can figure out how to pay for my car to be
fixed. Don't buy a Kia! If you already have one, I will pray for
you. It's not my cars fault, it is how she was put together. Anyways,
she is in the shop, and for safety, I need the four wheel drive fixed.
It is 1,100 dollars. All last winter, no matter how slow I drove,
I kept doing 360's in the snow. Nevada 's snow removal is not great,
and my car is rearwheel drive and light. I finally put 200lbs of
cement in the back to get some traction. That helped some. I just don't
want to be scared this winter while driving to and from work.
- Anything "Brum" related for my nephew. He is two years old,
wearing 2T or 3T shirts. Brum is his hero. And nearly impossible
to find anything related to Brum here in Nevada . We have found a few
things for him on ebay, and a very special bookcrosser sent him two
cool shirts that her son outgrew, and a book, and a cool card when
they went to the museum where Brum lives. My nephew just lit up!
- Cool handmade bracelets or anklets. Anklets are my favorite,Bracelets
size is about 7" Anklet size 9 1/2" or 10"

fun to watch!

statues with a book in hand would be cool, but not necessary.

eat some pork tacos elcarbon for me? I miss that restaurant so
much! OOOh, or how about some Kopps frozen custard! sigh ... my mouth
is watering now!
- A plane ticket to visit my friends in WI and eat a pork

- everyone have a safe and peaceful holiday, and that everyone
gets a chance to spend a bit of time with the ones they love.
- support BC! Wings,BC sticky notes, labels, whatever. Or
give yourself wings, buy a tote bag, give a random bXr wings. Any purchase
helps support the site, so really, every gift granted at the BC
supply store is a gift to us all!! :)
- Scrapbook/rubber stamping stuff. Anything ya got lying around
not using, I can put to use with my two daughters (9 and 4) and
my dd's girl scout troop. They love to scrap and can always use the
extra goodies. {I'd be happy to swap scrapstuff in the US/Canada...my
old stuff for your old stuff! LOL}
- I can't resist but to put handmade postcards, notecards,
etc. Last year I rec'd a BEAUTIFUL scrapbook from a lovely, generous
bookcrosser {thank you, you know who you are!} and it's slowly
but surely filling up with postcards, postmarks, and bookcrossing ephemera
from around the world. I'd love to add to it, and someday I promise
I'll take some pics and share it with you all... :D
- Bookmarks, of course, handmade or otherwise.
- fuzzy, silly, novelty socks for women and girls. There's
no such thing as too wild or too cute. :)
- fulfill the wish- book or otherwise of a relatively new
bXr- someone who wasn't around last year. I was so blown away by the
generosity of last year's participants that I'd love for new members
to share that experience.
